Dont cry.Really interesting what they have against drive but this is a good choice that gives us the playful fun side of Casey.

Casey James has a new single, "The Good Life", going for adds April 1st. It was announced at CRS tonight in Nashville.

Um, well that is April Fools Day. Maybe they are joking. I do really like that song, it's just that Casey does not perform it live as well as you would expect. I will see if its any better on March 19.

Just because fans love it doesnt mean radio will. Somewhere someone was telling them drive might not work.He may have ruined it with the dobro for radio and he isnt going to go back and record it.
When Caseys cd came out we targted here on this board that TGL woyld do well. Its a fun lighted hearted song with good lyrics that has a Kieth Urban feel. Not saying it will do well but it should have a good chance since it is lighthearted.How Casey performs it life will have no bearing on how it does on radio.

Well, I asked Casey's bass player, Dino Villanueva if he was stoked for "The Good Life" due to the strong bass line and bass intro and he said yes! Must be true. Or he is in on the April Fools day conspiracy!  dang it! I just like to drive. I do not like jelly over warm cornbread! |

TGL has many good qualities, the paralympics vid and the bass line definitely included, and the best hook by far of the singles to date. No doubt there are many other reasons why it will be the most successful Casey James single yet. But it is not Drive. I'm sure I'll manage a better attitude tomorrow, but for now I have tubes of toothpaste to molest.  |

OMG I am shocked and then again I am really not shocked.
I ve always had a strange feeling that they might release The Good Life. Again like Drive it is actually a summer song and a more upbeat song then his first two singles. I ve always liked The Good Life it is fun to listen to the song and it gives you a good feeling. And the song is actually personal to Casey, the song itself fits Casey's personality very well, also the song fits in with Casey's with new music Casey has been performing. If they release a new single after this it would be a good continuation. What I like about The Good Life is that it grabs you immediately with the baseline at the start, it is fun to listen to the song while driving around because it has such a light hearted feel to it. (And for me that is a good test as a radio single).
It is sad that Drive will properly never see the light of day as a single. I dont think the dobro would count against Drive right now as this kind of sound is popular right now on the indie scene. The one thing I ve always worried about with Drive is if it will come off just as well on radio then when you actually see Casey playing the song.
Well we obviously have no say with the singles they will release, so it is not worth it to get to disappointed about the single choices. That is also why an artist needs an album full of potential singles as you never know what the label are going to release.

This might sound a bit strange but for me personally it is actually going to be easier following TGL then Drive. With Drive I would have had high expectations and I would have been pissed off if it didn't do that well. With TGL it will be easier to relax about how the single is doing since I dont have such high expectation for it.

I dont really have any expectations. Its a third single from a album that isnt selling to well. I would of thought the same for drive. Only a small part of how TGL does will be how good the song is.
