Oh yes, yes, YES! And I would just about dieeee if he would cover Nothing else matters, in fact I am convinced that he should cover it! The song has been covered before and made into a slower song. But I would rather see Casey keep the original melody, it is such a great song. And while we are talking about Metallica perhaps he could also do the Unforgiven or it would be great to see him trying Whiskey in a jar! I finally found a Casey fan who digs the hardcore stuff Not a fan of Metallica, but Unforgiven is a legend. Perhaps the vocals is too "trashy" for Casey to cover, but who knows he may be able to pull it off. It's funny because, I've always wanted Casey to cover DB2's Green Light Girl. First time I listened to it, I'm all "Gawd riffs are crazy. Casey can kill this!". I was looking forward to rock theme on Idol & always had this or Pearl Jam's Black on my wishlist. Stupid Idol opt to have the Movies theme than rock. Anyhoo, when I learned Casey did GLG on Billy Bob's I went bonkers. Oh please Casey E. James - do Black.

I am not one who needs to hear casey sing a cover. I just want to hear originals. But last night while watching gac the dance was the number one video of the 90s. And seeing that was one of the first songs casey learned I would like to hear him do this and I think it is a good direction on a lot of caseys slow acousic stuff could be produced.

^^^Is there a video/audio of Casey covering it? Whos it by?
btw, I may be late in the discussion, but Casey's cover of Clapton's Old Love was genius. Don't know why it took him so long to re-cover it but sure glad he did. Don't know why Im nervous about hearing covers of Eric Clapton. He has been such an icon for me since Cream and has remained so since forever - COULD be the reason. But, again, Casey amazed me how he made it his song and injected it with proper emotion. j/s

OK, I'm about to make somebody mad. But, here goes. I think Casey could do Hendrix just fine. The difference between Casey and Hendrix is Casey can sing. Please don't throw me of this board, I just got on about a week ago.

Pack your bags, youre outta here!! ...just kiddin' He was a rocker, and at his best when wailing on his guitar and giving it his all, vocally. IMO he sounded awesome but will agree his voice was distinctive and maybe not best suited for, say, sweet ballads but that wasn't his style so no sweat Speaking only for myself, I would love to see Casey cover Hendrix for the sheer joy of watching him take on some of Hendrix's complex guitar skills. There are certainly plenty of song choices from Hendrix's discography that Casey could put his bluesy spin on and probably do them some major justice.

Whew, close call. Ok, Hendrix it is. I remember that Casey wanted to play Power and Joy (SRV) but felt he could not do it justice. I say do it and let us be the judge. Casey would make any of the past and present greats proud. Shoot, I'm proud enough of him for everyone. He killed it tonight.

^^^Yes, he did ;D (< no likey this emoticom) I kinda get Casey not wanting to play Pride and Joy. He may feel alot of pressure (or sacreligious? ) since he has so often been compared to SRV and that he is such a fan, too. Agree, tho, so far there hasn't been one of Casey's covers that I haven't adored and that he didn't do major justice. Although....Use Me took a bit of tweeking, IMO, but finally met my ridiculously high expectations since its one that is near and dear to my heart By the Sac Fair, it was suweet...
