My first guess is that the other song might be something we haven't heard yet, or perhaps Casey just doesn't want to give all of the options away.
Most people properly know my thoughts on the songs but I will give them again in any case, since we have a few days left before the next Casey show.
Lets dont call it a night - I think it could be a good first single, at the latest concert it sounded like they were trying to give it more of a bridge with I think is a good idea. I would like to hear more of the song when the production is finished. This is just a fun playful song, and it does have a few guitar licks.
(BTW This song reminds me very much of Lets make a night to remember from Bryan Adams, I have a soft spot for the song.)
So Sweet - Catchy song. But I dont know if it represents Casey as an artist well. It is different from his other songs, when I first heard it the first thing I thought was why is Casey singing in the idol way - with those high notes and that specific type of dramatic bridge. But the song has grown on me since then, it does have a bit of soul. I dont know if it is a first single song, the structure of the song is very much normal pop and diffident from what Casey usually does, also there is not a lot of guitar playing in this song, therefore I personally dont think the song represents Casey as an artist very well. I would think for your first single that you would want something that better shows what you are going to do, as an artist.
She Money - I dont know all of the words to the song yet or anything, but lyrically it is very similar to So Sweet, or it is the same the concept. I like the melody of the song and the guitar playing. I dont know if it should be the first single though.
I Lied - I love the melody of I lied, and I love Casey's more gritty vocals on the song, therefore as a combination together it works especially on the acoustic version. In the version with the whole band I like the guitar solo at the end. The song feels more like a rock song to me. The song would be perfect (for me) if Casey did most of it acoustically and switch to the electric guitar at the end. But again I dont know if I would make it the first single.
Till my guitar - I think this is actually a great song. The song has so much feeling and emotion in the music. The lyrics might not be the most original but the song itself is original, and I think there is substance in this song. But it is properly not a first single.
Hold On - Hold On is a bit like So Sweet for me in that there is a pop influence, the only difference is I much prefer So Sweet. With So sweet the song is out and out pop, with Hold On it is almost as if the melody cant decide if it wants to be pop or country, the whole song is just somewhere inbetween. Hold On is also catchy, but it feels to me like the song lacks substance. To me it just feels like just another song that is trying to tell you that you must feel good now, without really achieving that. Meh (I know this is properly a very unpopular opinion. ;D)
Bulletproof - If we are going for feel good songs, like Hold On, I think Bulletproof is a much better option. The beat of the song is just so catchy and it just makes you want to get up and do something. It is a feel good song without trying to hard to be one. And I personally just dont get tired of hearing this song, which is pretty good since we have been listening to it for long time now. It is very original and authentic which of course also means that it would be very risky as a first single. But the higher the risk the higher the pay off.
Need some Texas - The song's melody is a bit generic for me. It is not a bad song or anything but it isn't something you would go crazy over either. But one thing I have noticed about the song is that it actually has some good lyrics, if the melody was changed a bit or if something was added through the production then it could have potential.
Drive - One thing I will say about Drive is that I think the song has evolved nicely, it has more light and shade then it had in the beginning. It is a fun song, and very original there isn't really anything else that sounds like it. Therefore I still dont think it is a bad choice as a first single.
Most of the other songs are properly not really suited as first singles.
BTW Did you guys see which song is currently second in the poll?
I am glad to see Done made up my mind is finally getting the recognition it deserves. It is a song with great lyrics, a good melody and smoking guitar.
It is difficult to say which of the songs we already know would be a good first single choice. I think Bulletproof, She's Money, Lets dont call it a night, I Lied, Drive, and Need some Texas perhaps.
