LOL Thats ok. I suddenly had this image of casey in a almost empty room singing the song and berading himself maybe sitting on a couch or something.. Maybe while some actors are acting out the story line.

Well I have a few ideas but they all centre around the same general idea, some of the ideas are just add on's or variations to the main theme. And I didn't give it that much thought, it is just something that I came up with quickly. (Although it might look like I have been giving it to much thought).
The shot starts with a truck parked outside of a country type of bar, with no music yet but you can hear people drinking, partying, playing pool or whatever. It then shows the inside of the bar with a guy sitting alone clearly drinking his sorrows away type of thing or about to drink his sorrows away, looking very depressed.
Okay now my idea splits onto two different options.
a) The guy gets up walk to a jukebox, he looks through all of the all of the songs but the only songs that keeps on appearing is Crying on a suitcase. (It could be either real records or a electronic jukebox). He shrugs and starts playing it, and the music starts.
b) Same scenario you see the guy alone at the bar but you show people shouting requests at the house band, while they are plugging in guitars ext. Of course the bar band in this scenario is actually Casey and the gang. And then they start playing COAS.
Then we are back to the general idea again, the guy at the bar is obviously listening to the words of the song (whether it is the the jukebox version or the live band version). They have to show flashbacks to a fight he had with a women, they are screaming at each other and she grabs a suitcase and throws all of her clothes inside and she runs out slamming the door, jumps into a truck and drives off. Of course the guy should be looking conflicted about the whole thing sitting at the bar while thinking back. And the live band version they also show Casey and the band playing the song.
This goes on throughout the whole first verses and chorus. And then I have another scenario that could be added onto this this idea of the guy at the bar. Now this might be a bit to much and a bit silly but I think it could be fun. The exact same thing with the guy having flashbacks to this big fight and the girl storming off. But the twist is right when COAS starts to play in the beginning. The guy's good side and bad side appears on his shoulders. You know like in cartoons where they have the evil side dressed like a little devil, and the good side dressed like an angel, in minitures sitting on someones two shoulders trying to influence them. ;D The guy's good side, the little angel, is holding up posters, showing some lines from the song. Lines for example like "dont wait, dont think" "lose your pride" "tell her that you need her""everything in your life begins and ends with her'"man be man" ext. While the little devil on the otherside of the guy's shoulder is showing him his drink at the bar, and pointing to other sexy women at the bar. lol
And now we are back to the general theme again. The second verse of the song starts with the women obviously buying a ticket, while in tears. When she looks at the flight board on top of the flightboard screen there is a screen showing, playing now Casey James - Crying on a suitcase.
She then goes and sit down obviously waiting for her flight. (This should be a smallish airport). She sits down with her suitcase on her lap crying looking through pictures. But in the lobby or waiting room there is also a busker with an open guitar case and a few coins inside, obviously singing and playing - you guessed it Crying on a suitcase. And the busker is obviously Casey.
When the second chorus begins the man at the bar finally decides to do somethings, he jumps up. (Now again this is a bit tricky if we have the guy drinking a lot then he is going to have to get a taxi to airport, or the politically correct folks might complain about the video. Or otherwise he has to sit with a full drink in front of him, and he pushes the full drink away and runs to his truck)(or if we continue with scenario (C.) he takes the drinks and throws or pours the little devil alter ego with the drink and both the devil and the angel disappear). He is shown driving over curbs getting to the airport quickly running in and looking for the women.
Now again I have two types of twists in the story. Busker Casey sees the women crying he buys her a rose and gives he the rose and asks her for a coffee or something. The guy arrives at the airport he sees Casey and the women together walking off on their way for a coffee while she has the rose in her hand. He looks devastated and the song ends. (The alter ego little devil could also quickly appear looking very smug and laughing). That is the clinical ending.
However the idea that I like the most are actually the more romantic one for this song. This idea would work best if we follow that Casey and his band are playing live at the bar in the first verse. While the guy obviously watches their performance and listens to the song having the flashbacks. (And it could still include the alter ego devil and angel on the guys shoulders). Everything is exactly the same as described before, with the guy suddenly jumping up and rushing to airport at the second chorus, when the guy rushes out of the bar door they show Casey smiling mysteriously while he is still singing the song with his band. The women's part in the second versus are exactly the same with Casey singing there in the waiting room as a busker. The guy drives quickly to the airport he rushes in sees the girl runs to her stands on his knees pleading. She rises, pulls him up and hug happily, he takes the suitcase and they walk off together. As they walk off they also pass Casey who is still the busker here. They stop, the guy looks at Casey and he recognizes him as the same guy that also sang to him in the bar. He frowns, shaking his head and looks mystified. He takes the keys of his truck and throws that into the open guitar case for the busker. and they walk off again with Casey smiling.
And that is about it! I hope that is not to confusing. I like the idea of Casey being omnipresent. lol

Tough to imagine the devil/angel angle but I like your idea of Casey being "omnipresent" - you've got something there:) All I feel is that COAS would be the perfect background score for a love story. The angst of it all is the typical tension that works, at least for me, especially when it all wraps up nicely in the end - gotta relieve the tension or it's not a love story, its a drama:D
