Waternymf had some good questions about the second single, so I think we might as well discuss it and start a thread about it! ;D
From what Casey has said, he even seems pleasantly surprised at how well LDCIAN has been doing.
For a test record IMO cracking the top 40s (the 30s? Yeah!) is fabulous, and to stay there for weeks is even better. It WILL be interesting to see IF a and WHICH 2nd single will be put out there. Any guesses?
Thanks! ;D
Well BNA obviously believes that LDCIAN will peak in February. They usually try to make the album release coincide with when the single's is expected to peak. Of course they dont always get it right LDCIAN could fall of the chart before that, in that case they would want to get the second single out as quickly as possible and that could be in January or February, depending on when LDCIAN peaks.
However the opposite also sometimes happens, where they think a single would have reached its peak but didn't. Case in point being Hunter Hayes, but they still released his album although his sales wasn't that massive - 19k (for the first week). Now they are still waiting for Storm warning to peak. It seems like with Casey they are reluctant to give an actual date because they know LDCIAN could still be there for a long time. They would properly try to delay giving a set date for as long as possible to see how close they could be to have LDCIAN's peak coincide with the album launch.
If things go as planned, then we could properly only expect a new single in March. As for what the new single will be I honestly dont know. Everyone wants and expects Drive but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be Drive.
I think part of Casey's radio promo is also perhaps to gain some feedback from program managers and DJ's. So the next single will properly be between the songs Casey has been performing regularly. My guess is Drive, The Good Life and the Untitled song. Of course it properly also depends what happens to these songs in the studio, and how they sound.
As I said everyone is expecting Drive, and I hope it is the next single, but for some reason I wouldn't be surprised to see The Good Life as the next single. I have a feeling The Good Life could be title track and theme of Casey's album. Both would be good for summer, but of course I think Drive is more special.
As for the Untitled song it could also be in the running, there is a very good reaction to that song even from people who are not Casey fans. The only questions for me about the song is, the studio production and the fact that it is a ballad.
Casey conveys the emotion of the song live, but something like that might get lost with a studio production and when you cant actually see Casey perform the song, and ballads aren't always popular on radio. So therefore if this one is a future single I expect it would rather be a third single then a second single. But then again, it also depends on how the other songs will sound after production, perhaps they did something interesting with She Money or Need Some Texas, and then they would rather go for that.
Boudica, I liked your restaurant metaphor
