Well I did do a review of my first impressions, I might as well post them here as well. She Is My Girl - The song has a cool vibe and tune. It actually reminds me of The Police, and for me that is a very cool thing, "Every little thing she does is magic" is a favorite of mine. I ve always loved their cool vibe and this song has something similar, kind of a mixture of "Roxanne" and "Every little thing she does is magic". That Girl - This song has a bit of an upbeat fun old school rock style. Perhaps it is a bit in the vain of Jason Aldean songs. The song felt a bit short but perhaps it was just because I was enjoying it. Kachina said ZZ Top and I agree the beginning sounds a bit like that, it also makes a think a bit about The Eagles. This as an enjoyable song. I am just curious though, I think it would be a bit strange to have two songs on an album with the title "girl" in it, so I would guess that if any of these songs where to make the album then only one of the "girl" songs would make it. Women's Touch - Oh I bet Casey had a strong hand in writing this one, he sing it with conviction! It obviously has a bluesy feel to it. I think this song show more depth then some of Casey's earlier slow songs. I am pretty sure Casey's hardcore fans will eat this one up, and it will be favorite for the hardcore fans. It also reminds me of another song but I just cant think of what song it reminds of exactly. This is obviously a work in progress, Casey hasn't perfectly figured this one out yet. I would like to hear a more composed version, before final judgement. For now I like the guitar atleast. But I dont see this as a potential single. Run Away - This sounds like you very average normal modern country song. It is catchy and I have heard other artists release this type of song as a single. I like it fine enough and as I said it is catchy. But personally after I ve heard the first verses I though fodder, it is average a bit like most of Lady Antebellum's songs, you will like it but it isn't something wow. Breaking Through The Blue - This song actually has some single potential. There is still a lot for Casey to work out but I sense potential. I think this song could really do well with a cool and clever production, something like "Pontoon". A small hick up, but for some reason I dont really like the title, I would change it to just "Breaking Through". Cant Give Up - Oh this song is still very, very raw. Casey looked a bit uncertain during most of it and stopped a few times. I really like the drums. I have a feeling I could like this song. But for now it really, really needs more work. Is it a single? Hmm I dont know it has a more modern rock feel. Falling To Hard - This one also sounds very much like your normal modern country tune. I think people will like this one more right now because Casey is performing it with much more confidence then the other song. I think over time people will learn to like some of the other songs more then this one. That being said I think this song could actually do pretty well on the charts, it is fun and catchy. In comparison to the other more country tune "Run Away" this one is much better. What songs do I like the most? The two girl songs, Breaking through the blue and I have feeling I might like Cant Give Up in the future. Although I would like to hear all of the songs once Casey has actually mastered them. Which songs did Casey not write? Hmm my guess is the two modern country songs and perhaps "Cant give up". Then again he might actually have written all of them. lol In general a lot of these songs seem more challenging to sing then in his first era. I would still release Drive, right now I am not seeing anything that could challenge Drive.

Love your review! Here are my thoughts after reading it:
1. Agree about there only being one "Girl Song" At the moment I prefer "She" but it is probably because that one was further developed than "That". In the end "That Girl" could be a better choice. I say this mostly out of fear that Casey will have too many slow and mid-tempo songs like the first CD.
2. Women's touch. You are spot on about the hard core fans. That is mostly who I follow and talk with on twitter. They are all gaga over this song. it is probably too much for country radio so I don't see it being a single. I gotta tell you, it was pretty intense live. SO HOT! I was blushing for sure! It was amazing! All that being said, it's not a single, but is the type of pandering Casey should do and what a gift for new fans or those who don't know him well to hear it for the first time on his CD! I think it shows deep emotion, passion, great writing and mad guitar skills!
3. Run Away - I liked it. I can see this on his CD if he takes some musical risks on other songs as you suggest with "Breakin' Through". It is an easy listen. Just not super exciting.
4. "Fallin'" - I am VERY partial to this song, almost to the point of not being able to be objective. I will say the last verse does need a little work. Something was a little awkward to the way he came in on that one. it is not the key change, something about the lyric or cadence bothered me. Nothing that a little work can't clean up. Anyway, I LOVED seeing Casey with his acoustic guitar on an upbeat song. Also, the steel guitar work was fantastic. To me this is the best and most radio friendly song I heard.
5. "Can't Give Up" - This song did not grab me, but it has a unique sound. Sounds a little elementary to me.
6. "Breakin' Through"- I like your idea of doing something unique with the sounds of this song. I am not sure if the tempo is right for radio, but I do like the song.
Overall-I see Fallin' Too Hard, one Girl song, Woman's Touch and maybe "breakin' through on the CD. He needs to offset those with some rockin' numbers like DMUMM or something in that flavor as well as a good love song.
I think this is a good start and I am sure there will be a lot more songs he plays in the coming months. I don't think Casey will go into the studio until he is confident he has the material he wants. I am guessing he will do like last time and select the songs penned by him and top it off with a couple written by others that are complimentary or fills voids in the CD.
Very exciting times!

I dont have a favorite and really am not going to critique them because they are in the infancy phase. But from what I have heard these are all pretty much better then every song on his first cd. No missing lyrics and much more radio friendly.

It is funny for once I actually agree almost perfectly with what Windmills had to say: Out of the new songs, keeping in mind I couldn't make out a whole lot of the lyrics, the standouts IMO are Breaking Through The Blue (whose vibe reminds me a lot of Eli Young Band's Even If It Breaks Your Heart, I wonder if Will Hoge or Eric Paslay cowrote it), She's My Girl (strong hooks), and Woman's Touch (for the blues, you can really hear how comfortable CaseyJ is vocally on this). She's My Girl and That Girl both have a big 80s blue eyed soul/rock vibe to them. That Girl made me think of Huey Lewis & The News with a little steel guitar. She's My Girl has a stronger melody (and, the few lyrics of That Girl I could make it weren't really my thing).
Fallin Too Hard gives me modern Alabama vibe. Sounds good but the lyrics don't seem that interesting. It's something that could grab a person depending on production and instruments though. I'd say the same thing about Run Away, it sounds pleasant but not all that exciting, but it's something that could really "pop" depending on the instruments and production. There's potential there.
Can't Give Up is hard to judge because CaseyJ struggled with it so much vocally but, the melody isn't grabbing me.

Windmills thinks That Girl might be a cowrote with Patrick Davis and Dallas Davidson, the same team that cowrote So Sweet.

I wonder why she thinks that. It doesnt have to be a leftover from his first cd like she said. He could of wrote with them in the last year.

I didn't take it to mean that it was a left over. But who knows. I think Casey could easily have written with then again, they seem to get along very well and Patrick Davis was even performing So Sweet himself. It is difficult say who has written what you cant even make out the lyrics of the songs. lol
The only thing I wuld say is that I dont believe Casey had a hand in writing Cant give up, he wouldn't write songs which he struggles to sing.

Windmills said it might be left over. Sorry Oh okay. Well if it is a left over then Casey doesn't have to pay for more sessions. ;D

I really need to hear some better recordings before I form an opinion. But Woman's Touch is hot.

Ok, so there seems to be a consensus out there that "Breakin' Through the Blue" is an early favorite. I have tried to get the lyrics from my pathetic video. I know there will be great quality vids from Billy Bob's so I can update the lyrics this weekend. If this is something you do not care to see on here let me know and I'll stop posting them. I also have most of "Fallin' Too Hard" and "Woman's Touch" Let me know if you want to see those lyrics (or what I was able to make out).
"Breakin' Though the Blue"
The world's gonna fall on my shoulders Shine a spotlight on me and mine Warm sunlight getting closer I can feel it now
I knew you in days of winter Nights so cold on a _______moon I'm so tired of being here I don't know what to do
Chorus: Ooh, ooh, ooh I feel it coming Ooh, ooh, ooh I can tell by the moon Ooh, ooh, ooh beyond the horizon It's shining now Breakin' through the blue It's shining now Breakin' through the blue
Don't be weak, ______ the future Don't you be so afraid of change Don't be weak, rise above it It's ______________
(Chorus)
Don't hang your head now, keep pushing on Everybody's ______ ______ ______ gotta shake off the dust Don't hang your head now, keep pushing on It's always ______ _______ ______ before the dawn
(Chorus x 2)
Do you want to see more lyrics???
