Ok, so there seems to be a consensus out there that "Breakin' Through the Blue" is an early favorite. I have tried to get the lyrics from my pathetic video. I know there will be great quality vids from Billy Bob's so I can update the lyrics this weekend. If this is something you do not care to see on here let me know and I'll stop posting them. I also have most of "Fallin' Too Hard" and "Woman's Touch" Let me know if you want to see those lyrics (or what I was able to make out). It's so funny that the superstars can put out junk like Tim McGraw's "Truck Yeah" and someone like Casey has his lyrics ripped to shreds.
I don't think there is a critic that can say "Woman's Touch" isn't specific enough!!! (not that it would ever be a single)
What makes "Breakin' Through" a good song is the musicality. It's unique sound and vibe lends itself to the lyric and adds emotion to what he is saying.

Casey James Samples Seven Songs From Forthcoming New Album LiveFans present at the Casey James concert at the Grizzly Rose in Denver, Colo. last weekend were treated to a healthy dose of new material from the ‘Cryin’ on a Suitcase’ newcomer. The singer used the gig to preview more than a couple new tracks from his sophomore project — seven, to be exact — though no timeframe was given regarding the ultimate release of the album. According to a recent interview with the Lubbock Avalanche Journal, James still has plans to release a third single from his self-titled debut disc. The former ‘Idol’ competitor is currently climbing the charts with ‘Cryin’ on a Suitcase,’ which is the second radio release from his first major label offering following his stint on the reality show. I really hope he can come up with that special career song. Even though Lee Brice is having number ones his current single is special and a career song.

For career song to work you need a bit of success already otherwise no one will care about your career song.

I guess every case is different but in most cases from what I can recall it is people who already had a few hits. I dont think everyone has a career song. Those types of songs are usually more personal or more deeper kinds of songs. Casey does have such song but radio is not going them. That is why you need to have some success already, so that radio will actually play these types of songs. But I sure there are other cases where people were not well known beforehand, but I would think those are very few cases. |

I would consider cruise FGL a career song. Anyway I mainly just mean a really special song. I serious tear up every time I hear I drive your truck on the radio.
