Great find, txlady! "Very shortly" "Very shortly" is way sooner than "soon," right? I'm impressed and happy that he sounds so upbeat. I wonder where he'll end up. Sony was never very good at promoting him, so I don't think he has anything to lose.

^ I hope Casey's version of "shortly" is quicker than "soon"! "Very Shortly, I'll be somewhere that will be a better fit" REALLY seems to imply that he has another deal of some sort in the works. But what is his version of "somewhere"? I would assume a new label, but it could mean anything! If he really has something in the works that he can announce "shortly", I can see why he would just wait until then to make a statement. He would probably want to just focus on the positive. "things weren't flowing well" is probably the most we will get out of him regarding his departure from Sony. I'm excited to hear what he has in store, but can imagine it will be fall of 2016 before we know what it is. lol In the meantime, I am really curious to know what will happen with his website. It still has the Sony copyright. It's got some of his gigs on there, but not all of them by any means. Now that he is on his own, he HAS to keep that thing updated and tweet out every gig he has!

"forced to flee Mexico after ticking off the wrong people. Now, with a price on his head, he and his sister make their way to Houston"
Okay... Should one find that one has angered someone of well-deserved ill repute in Mexico, one should probably hide somewhere other than Houston. Just sayin'. Other than that, the show sounds promising.
As for Casey, his latin guitar skills should come in handy, hopefully his vocals will as well. I wonder if we'll get to see him in a cowboy hat. That'd be fun. And dusty and sweaty is one of his better looks, so more fun for us. If the show gets picked up with Casey/Jasper in it, it'll be interesting to see how they handle the height disparity between him and Hererra. That's the sort of thing which could end up limiting Casey's air time on the show, but I'm assuming Jasper is a small role and any increase in it would be a ways down the road so no worries for now.

Also, I'm hoping they concentrate more on the roughneck aspect of the story and less on the line-dancing, which I'm afraid may come off as cheesy to an American audience (at least the men), but you never know. All in all, I think it's a very good direction for Casey and I have my fingers crossed.

I am excited about this show. The only thing that has be concerned is the illegal alien aspect of the main character and some of the others. It is a very polarizing topic. I am not worried about the height difference. They deal with it all the time in movies.

All in all, I think it's a very good direction for Casey and I have my fingers crossed. I think there is going to be a rodeo aspect in the story. The main character, Kyle, is a big time rodeo guy. But I think there will be glitz and glamour, too.

So Casey is making it on screen ?! That will be interesting, or at least I'm hoping for anything right now.

I am not worried about the height difference. They deal with it all the time in movies. I just realized how what I said could be interpreted. For the record, I meant that Mexican drug lords already have a large presence in Houston -- making it a poor hiding place, especially for a rodeo star. I don't think the immigration debate is likely to play into the show's ratings at all unless the show itself chooses to bring it up. People escaping over the border has been a staple of stories set in the southwest forever.

Those changes can be pretty arbitrary and weird. Like, they might change the story, setting, and the cast. It's just a dicey process, but here's hoping they beat the odds and the show gets picked up just the way it is. I'd really like to see it. And hey! Now we know: shortly really is much sooner than soon!

Well, this is an interesting article. It is about Urban Cowboy director, Craig Brewer, and the fact that he has directed tonights Episode of the hot Fox show, "Empire". They go on to describe Urban Cowboy: "Not a remake of the 1980s John Travolta movie of the same name but a continuation and update of its working-class nightclub sensibility, the new program, if picked up for broadcast by Fox, will follow its undocumented immigrant protagonist (telenovela star Alfonso Herrera) from Mexico into the modern world of singer-songwriters, hard-partying honky-tonkers, practitioners of percussive cumbia music and Latin cowboys. "This mix of cultures is the new normal," said Brewer, 43. "Like may things I've tried to do, I try to make race an issue by not making it an issue."
