I dont think Casey's personal life should be completely off limits, that is a bit like the other extreme to me. At the end of the day Casey offered himself up as a public figure when he appeared on idol. As a public figure you will always be more open to personal scrutiny. Some people are interested in these kinds of things. I personally am not very interested in them at all, but that doesn't mean that everyone should think the same way. I would say the issue is not so much about revealing or discussing personal matters, the issue is more about how fans react or deal with these matters. Fans just needs to remain realistic, and of course you have to place yourself in the person's shoes that you are discussing, what would be acceptable for you to read if you where the idol reading your own forum? (And yes these people often do read their own forums  ). A personal guideline that I like to use when it comes to internet is, if you cant say something to a person face to face, if you where to meet them, then you properly shouldn't be posting it either. In general idol fans are notorious for going over the line sometimes, I have read some interesting stories about fans getting way to attached to the person they support. Fans getting mad at each other when one fan gets more attention then the other. Or fans getting mad and jealous at their idol when he gets a girlfriend (or boyfriend) ext. ext. They can become incredibly nasty. Of course I am not saying this applies to Casey fans. But when you get to those stages you are obviously in far too deep. On the otherhand I also belong to other non-idol fan forums where personal matters are discussed openly without any issues, or going overboard at all. So it can definitely be done. I dont really believe in sweeping things under the carpet, people will always be interested in these types of things. So I dont think the topic should be avoided altogether either. Because maybe she knew she would be rejected and wanted to check it out. Sure enuf, she was.
Here's mine: I wish Casey had gone with a different song as his first single, any other of his new ones. I also don't like the guitar sound and any uniqueness was washed out. Im disappointed in the direction they took. j/s, after all this time I feel let down after all the hoopla.
Also, I think the cover is....weird....cheesy.
On that note, I think I will be stepping away for awhile for perspective. Im sure Casey will garner ooodles of success. j/s, tho....
How's that for "unpopular?"

I actually wrote, "I guess it's not un-popular", my question,that is, when I noticed what thread I was replying on  Anway, I am not sure why you need to leave the forum, I obviously have missed something. As for CJ, I am really into his music, and think he is an overall, great person. People like him, are hard to find these days in this industry. I do like to know about their personal life, just because I want to know more about them. Not stalker like or anything I promise, my question was innocent  |

Maybe I can give you a little more perspective as why the personal thing is the one taboo. A lot of crap went on while Casey was on tour people saying immoral crap about Casey and stuff they had no clue if things really were going on. Just making stuff up. and it was coming from so called fans. I have never posted here before and realized half way through my post what thread I was on. I actually wrote, "I guess it's not un-popular", my question,that is, when I noticed what thread I was replying on Anway, I am not sure why you need to leave the forum, I obviously have missed something. As for CJ, I am really into his music, and think he is an overall, great person. People like him, are hard to find these days in this industry. How's that for "unpopular?" Aww that is a shame, but the single is just one song. You just saw Casey perform the other day and you love it! As Kachina said on the other thread these days radio songs are just advertisement, so that people will come and watch your live shows. Personally I would have been disappointed if So sweet turned out to be the first single. But at the same time I would have known it is just one song of many. I like many other Casey songs, one song isn't that much of an issue to me personally. But if the one song is really such a big deal breaker to you, then that is how it is. I respect your opinion. |

I've never heard a bad thing about Casey really. Like who his girlfriend was, specifically, or all kinds of stuff? Never would have known crap like that happened. I am knew to all this forum stuff though, so I didn't have the ability to hear stuff like that either. Honestly, I think most general fans wouldn't even know about it. It didn't even happen on this forum. But there was a lot of arguments because a lot of people treated speculation as facts. For example people speculating and making assumptions about Casey's sex life, previous relationships, his faith and all sorts of things. Some of these things are obviously private, but at the same time it is silly to make assumptions about a person like this, as we as fans only ever get a glimpse of Casey. I think that might have been the main issue. There where also a few fights between twitter followers when Casey didn't follow them for example. People got very jealous of each other, and that always causes fights. (It might even be why Casey isn't using twitter a lot these days anymore. But that is speculation, dont treat that as a fact.) While I personally think on principal a forum should be an open place where you are able discuss things openly, at the same time I can also understand why it would be easier to just avoid some of these more personal discussions. |
