here is what I think is SOOOOO un-popular ! I might even get death threats It's about Done Up My Mind . I love the lyrics , a strong story behind it . & it's similar to Show Me A Bridge , & have the same concept about bridges ! But unlike Show Me A Bridge , it's missing the hook in the melodies & the arrangement are kinda heavy for my taste ! BUT , I'm optimistic about the song & I think it'll be great in the studio version ! The songwriters of the song co-wrote this song with Keith Urban : www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijGZThda3es&feature=related & I really like it ! also , while I was listening to You Gonna Fly by Keith ( co-written with Jaren Jonston ) , I figured that the arrangements of it could be great fit for Done Up My Mind : www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQj2xB7bORI

Just Kidding! You know you don't have to like every single song that Casey has written. I still maintain that Done made up my mind and Show me a bridge has completely opposite meanings. Casey has never been just one genre, he mixes it up and Done made up my mind is a rock song, if you don't like rock then it is understandable why you wouldn't like the song. Casey has also produced loads of mid tempo similar themed sweet love songs that should appeal to country fans. The Keith Urban song and Done made up my mind doesn't really sound very similar to my ears. If a producer or musical director somehow manages to make an angry rock song sound like a mid tempo country song I might just have to hunt him down! On a more serious note they can do whatever they like to the song in the studio obviously, but personally it would be a huge let down for me if they took the rock out of the song. Before Casey had any originals I was fearful that I might not like his music because he was signed to a country label, it was nice to see that Casey can still rock out bit and do something like Done made up my mind, and he obviously really loves to perform that song. But at the end of the day we all have different taste, I dont expect everyone to like the same songs.

No no no no no!! I really like Rock music! I love everything as long as it is not Rap ! LOL! The reason I said I'm optmistic is that because there are songs that I'm not so much into them "Live" , but I love the recordings that due to the lack of the instrumentation in the live performances ! of course as long as the instrumentation doesn't hide the vocals . I don't want it to be a Keith-like song of course! all thing is it's missing the "hook" which as I said because of the lacking of instrumentation which most of live songs suffer from this . Is it a heavy song for Country ? Yes! & I've stated from early about that & I definitely don't have any problem with that . Does the song have potential ?! definitely !!! . This is why I still don't have a clear fav. I much prefer to wait but at the same time curious to see other people's opinions! Hope all clear now

Bravo!! No reason why you should get "death threats" (HA!) for voicing an opinion. That's how ideas are generated AND valuable information is passed on. Agree DMUMM is heavy, and I always felt it could use some tooling. figured, or hoped, it would be taken care of in production. I think it has evolved a little, especially the intro. Used to feel like it rocked then the song went to a different tempo, then back again. Agree with Boudica, Keith Urban's song arrangement is too upbeat but I see where you are going with the idea - I don't know the right words, but it's catchy, flows nicely, good transitions

^^ I totally agree with you! there were some bad recordings because of the cheap production of idol !! but on the other hand , there were some great recordings like Lawdy Miss Claudy & Mrs. Robinson ( even though I liked Mrs. Robinson live too ) .

The heavy & sick riffs of DMUMM got me on an instant. TBH though, on his 1st performances, I got confused on the transition. Like it was really mindblowing rock on the intro and then, it went tame on the stanzas... and then on the chorus it rocked again. You may get lost at first but when you listen to it over & over it gets better. DMUMM stood the test of time for me, fun to see fans starting to appreciate it (as HP's polls show).
As for Show me a bridge, this is one slow song I'm prone to loving. Not cheesy, great lyrics, melancholic. I like it enough to widow it on guitar. Anyone knows how to play a bit of guitar? I can give you the main chords ;D

Ok so here we go...
I know how zillions adored Jealous Guy. And if you know me too well, you'd know I'm a Beatlemaniac. So Casey doing Lennon was a "wait what no f way!" moment for me.
I really dig the live version. Goosebumps - check. Magical - check. Pure artistry - check. Except for a bit of fall when he does the "oh wo ho" part, it is flawless overall.
But... the studio version on the other hand. I don't know Something about it I'm not a fan of. It sounds like Casey's mic is too close to his mouth or whatnot. I feel bad cos I hafta love it by default. It just doesn't justify the live version.
Other than that, I love the other studio versions. Mrs. Robinson... ack my iPod ached on this one. Listened to it like 50x/day That is properly not such an unpopular opinion. I also dont like the studio version. They removed all of the angst out of the song. I am already fearful that they will do the same thing with Casey's debut album. In fact I didn't like most of the studio recordings, and a lot of it had to do with the tacky instrumentation that was often used.

I think it'll be totally different with Casey's debut album . during an interview with MTV after Casey's elimination , he said that thay didn't allow him to play guitar or do anything with recordings , it was just recording the vocals . while now , Casey is the song-writer , the composer , & playin' the lead .... etc. And I agree , American Idol recordings are always cheap & fast recorded ! this year are even worse

But I think it is a great concert song, it brings people to live and Casey obviously loves to perform it. I am glad you mentioned the hard and quieter tone of the song. It is always a technique I have liked in rock songs. Most of it of course comes from the Pixies who used to really experiment with this technique a lot, it isn't actually that easy to do, as with rock you naturally want to make things faster as the song goes on. But the Pixies experimented with the harder, softer technique to give their songs more of a melody, and later of course it was copied by Nirvana for Smells like teen spirit. Here is a good example of the Pixies doing it in reverse on Gouge Away, the lines are hard but the chorus is very quiet. As for Show me a bridge, you nailed it by calling it not cheesy. That is often the problem with these types of songs. But show me a bridge is just a good song all around.

Here is my un-popular opinion : It's about Hold On . While I think Casey's vocals are powerful in the song & have a good story lyrics . I think the song is more in the cheezy / generic side . The song is the type of songs that released like a promotional singles ( i-Tunes only singles , between two albums ) it'll be really great for that or even a charitable single ( for i-Tunes only too ) . Plus , that type of Sugarland songs failed commercially & even critically , I hope Casey collaborated with Kristian on something like Sugarland fast rockin' songs , because that style is incredibly catchy . Kristian & Jen. are amazing song-writers with that type of music . Don't get me wrong I like it , but it's not wow-amazing .

I hope it'll make the cut & will also be simple in production .
