I wish it would be I Lied or Done Made up My Mind.
I think I may be the only one that isn't thrilled about "Drive". I don't know, it's just ok for me. It just never hooked me from day one like I Lied and Done Made up My Mind did.
Whatever the single is, I hope it's one of his uptempo songs. He has a better chance of grabbing and gaining a diverse fan group with an uptempo. I think a ballad won't grab the men. He needs the men.

^^ I agree about the up-tempo thing! I think I Lied is up-tempo , would be even more in studio recording! I think Drive is really cool manly song! the guitar work is impressive! & it's catchy! in a good production! I can see it a hit on radio! Surprisingly , that song got great reviews during the Sugarland tour , reviewers called it 'radio ready song' or 'a hit song' . That's great!

I know it did get great reviews and I'm happy about that. I can't put my finger on why it is just ok for me. I don't know what it is. I think the men will really like it so that's a good thing

^^ I know what you mean! not all the greatest songs end up as singles! just ask the labels I think they'll choose the song that they think it will get radio play , regardless if it's the best song on the album or not! However , the great thing is that all of Casey's songs are great! ;D

This is why I said that Casey's single most definitely will be out by mid June , Kenny Chesney's new single just sent out to radio , official impact day is May 31 . They sent it immediately because he is Kenny friggin' Chesney , he will top the the charts in just 2 months without any promo! lol

However , the great thing is that all of Casey's songs are great! ;D Isen't that weird how that works? But yet with other artists and albums we've all probaby asked - why wasn't this song the one they used to promote themselves? Like you say MeMe, its all about what they think will get radio play and go over best to the most people! I like "Done made up my Mind" better than Drive, but I also know that Drive would be better as the single as it is more country and would suit radio better more likely. Also, "Show me a Bridge" is probably my favorite, but would be maybe too slow for a first song.

I dont think the issue with Drive is that it is a more of a manly song or anything like that. I tend to listen to more manly songs and music, and I like Drive well enough and I listen to it from time to time but I think the issue with Drive is that it just doesn't really have a distinguishable or prominent enough melody. It is not the knd of song that is going to get stuck in your head for days on end, for example. I think people just partly liked it as the first single because Casey debuted it at the CRS event, and they thought it was going to be the first single. Also when you are at concert in that concert type of atmosphere an upbeat song like Drive is always going to be more fun.
However, I recently listened to a lot of fast country song by some of the prominent male country artists and compared to many of those songs Drive isn't really a bad song, I think drive would hold its own compared to many other songs out there.
But I would rather see Casey put forth his best efforts. Bulletproof for example is not one of my favourite songs, for me it feels to outdated. But I still think it would make a better first single then Drive, because it has a very catchy tune which I think would make it more memorable then Drive.
Other then that, I lied actually also sounds like a faster song to me, or it could be a faster song with the whole band. Casey sang that song with a lot of grunt and rawness in his voice, which makes me feel that it could have potential of being more of a rock song. Not necessarily a fast, heavy rock song but a medium HAC tempo rock song. I would like to hear that song with the electrical guitar or the whole band. It is definitely a catchy song.
However, I think Done made up my mind is the best of the fast songs. Rather then writing it off as too much of a rock song I think it would be better to perhaps do something with the song in the studio and give it some kind of a country twist in the production, then just writing it off completely.
But then again the chances are good that we are not going to hear the first single until they are ready to release it.
Anyways Casey has done so many slowish songs and ballads already I would like to see more fast songs in the future.

Also , the chances are high that we havn't heard the single yet! it could be not too far from the songs we heard! I mean at the same vein! but a different song! you know what I mean! ;D

Yes, personally I dont think they would be playing the first single ahead of time. Casey has debuted so many song it is hard to know how of these will actually make the album. Also I am wondering how the song all fit together in the writing time line. I am wondering if the songs Casey did on the Sugarland tour might perhaps have been some of the first ones he has written last year. As his experience with other song writers increased I am wondering if the latest songs he has written might perhaps not be better then some of the previous song. The song he did at the acoustic event might have been songs from January for example. So I am wondering when all of the songs were written, and if they have some method or purpose in the songs they are allowing Casey to do now.

With the latest about Casey's Paw-Paw , it's now more clear that we're looking at June release! I'm crossing my fingers they'll release it around CMA Fest ( praying ) . ;D

I agree that it looks like Sony is leaning towards "Drive." The teaser video and the fact that it was the first song he debuted. It seems it would also fit under the umbrella of new country. Having said that, I'm a huge fan of "Done Made Up My Mind" and I think it would also be a good choice for a first single. It's rocking, has a great hook, and appeals to both men and women. Did I misss this?

If June comes & goes without one - well then I'll probably just keep quiet so I don't jinx it anymore! ;D
